The Kennel Club General Committee agreed to transfer the Russian Black Terrier from the Imported Breeds Register to the Breed Register with effect from 1st July 2004. This means we can enter AVNSC if there are no RBT breed classes scheduled for us. The good news also if an RBT wins BOB they are eligible to compete in the Working group ring & BIS ring if lucky enough to win the Working group! We have all strived for this day - well done to you all, Crufts Discover Dogs - RBT Club Booth March
4th - 7th
CRUFTS 2004........The Booth attracted a lot of
interest to the breed with people finding the display both pleasing and
informative. The theme was 'EDUCATION OF THE BREED',
grooming, correct feeding, correct exercise, birth to adult, life expectancy
(Asta Nocni Boure will be 15 years old in April) and the history of the
breed. The photo of Asta
jumping a bank was enjoyed by all who visited the booth. More than 2000
educational leaflets were handed out at this event with many
leaving a little more educated than when they arrived.
Many visitors enjoyed the
section'History of The Breed'-(the

photo gallery including the dogs names. taken
from the Russian RBT. Book by Marina Gerasimova
for which we as a club appreciate her invaluable help.
There were visitors to the booth from all over the world including Russia, Slovakia, Australia, America, Germany, Sweden, Finland, China, Japan and many more. Thank you to all the many members who helped it was a fantastic 4 day event. **Marina Gerasimova's RBT Book----see Breed Stall Sales.
Celebration Day 12th June - Frankie E K Leung
66 RBT’s entered. The day began with members arriving as early as 9 am. All eager for the day to begin. Our guest of honour was staying at the home of his dear friends our Chairman Ron Carter and his wife Kay Carter-Sims. Ron as always greets our members in the car park directing them to the hall. Kay is the back-bone for the club, and on the day she outshone herself with the food she had brought and prepared for the luncheon. Kay’s helpers Kathy Gallagher, Louise Dugdill, Linda Newton, Janet Kaye and Shirley Hockenhull in the kitchen. Jean McDonald-Ulliott who runs the breed stall assisted by Linda Newton set out the club items plus Jean always brings some other lovely items which sell very well on the day. I set up the welcome table (collecting monies) photos, signs etc. Tom H together with Mike Smith and Peter Dugdill set up the rings outside on the lawns, and the tables for the grooming area. Matt Holmes did a splendid job with Tom Rigby setting out the dinning room. All ready for the members to sit and enjoy a complimentary coffee or tea to welcome everyone. There was a child’s activity table helpers were Emily (12) and Nicole (9). Ron Carter and Louise Dugdill correlated all the entries and the assessment forms and Mike Smith was ring steward. The Assessment began at 11 am with Frankie assessing 12 in the Baby class (aged up to 6 months). Puppy Class had an entry of 14. Junior class 9 were entered. After these classes we stopped for lunch. International Day 30th August - Vladimir Urazhevski (Moscow)
An Appreciation of the Club’s International Day On Monday 30th August the weather in South Yorkshire at Pilley was
fortunately ideal for the RBT’s,
On arrival we take pleasure in the now, familiar routine of a friendly welcome in the car park, and further greetings in the hall before the main business of the day commences. On this occasion 43 dogs were grouped according to age from ‘Baby’ to ‘Veteran’ for assessment by Mr Vladimir Urazhevski from Moscow. Proceedings were punctuated by a leisurely lunch interval, for which the ladies who produced and served the food can be justifiably proud. Other activities including Ring Craft practice, Character assessment and Good Citizens continued during the afternoon, and proceedings rounded off with the presentation of trophies, including a stunning marble framed study of a Russian Black Terrier, brought by Mr. Urazhevski to the extreme pleasure of the recipient. Whatever the programme, there is a sense of a day well spent at the conclusion of any of the Club’s activities. Reflecting people’s willingness to share information, help newcomers, and the energy and enthusiasm of our President, Secretary and hard working Committee members. This energy and enthusiasm together with enlargement of the gene pool was channelled into the presentation made to the Kennel Club to state the case for the removal from the Import Register so recently successful, which should prompt delight rather than surprise, and for which we owe our thanks. William & Angela Smith (Briannor kennels ) RBT Club Members.
